Sahasranamam Chants on Nithyananda from Kirtanalaya

  1. Shiva Sahasranamam
    Believed to have been originated from the great Hindu epic, the Mahabharata, this chant is an offering of 1000 names to Lord Shiva. These names have been coined through awe, adoration and respect for the Shiva energy. Each name carries the element of Truth in it.

  2. Vishnu Sahasranamam
    This is a set of 107 verses delivered by Bhishma to Yudhishtra - grandfather to grandson - in the great warfield of the grand Hindu epic, the Mahabharata. In response to Yudhishtra's question as to how one can attain lasting happinesss with freedom from bondage, Bhishma delivers these chants. They describe Lord Vishnu through 1000 names, each depicting a powerful attribute of Him.

  3. Lakshmi Sahasranamam
    A set of verses from the Brahma Purana, this chant glorifies Goddess Lakshmi through 1000 names attributed to Her. Lakshmi stands for beauty and grace and prosperity in the outer and inner worlds. Existence exudes bountifulness and Lakshmi represents this bountifulness. By glorifying Her, our perception widens and we will feel abundance within and without.

  4. Lalitha Sahasranamam
    This set of 320 verses occurs in the Brahmananda Purana - the last of the 18 Puranas (ancient Hindu epics) delivered by Sri Veda Vyasa. It expounds through 1000 unique names, the various attributes of Lalitha Devi, the Goddess of Bliss. It is a dialogue between Hayagriva, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu and the great sage Agastya. Upon request from Agastya, Hayagriva delivers this chant.

    The Lalitha Sahasranamam creates vibrations that invigorate the nerves and awaken the subtle energies in a person. It radiates healing energy to the body, mind and spirit.
     
  5. Subramanya Sahasranamam
    With its origins in the Skanda Purana, this chant is an offering of 1000 names to Lord Subramanya (more popularly known as Lord Muruga). Lord Subramanya, the second son of Lord Shiva, incarnated to destroy evil and save humanity. He is said to reside in the hearts of devotees. Portrayed as a young and handsome lad, He radiates wisdom and love to all.
